Timeline of console development:
- Magnavox Odyssey (worlds first commercial video console using printed circuit board cards and was released in 1972)
-Atari 2600 (Used Microprocessor hardware and ROM cartridges released in 1977)
-Nintendo Entertainment System (8 bit video console which used ROM cartridges and had two controller ports was released in 1983)
-Genesis (released in 1988)
-Atari Jaguar ( had a multi-processor and used ROM cartridges with two controller ports released in 1993)
-Virtual Boy (used 3D graphics used game pak cartridges and was a piece that went over your head released in 1995)
-PlayStation ( used CD ROMS and had two controller ports and needed memory cards released in 1994)
-Nintendo 64 (had a 64-bit cpu used ROM cartridges and had 4 controller ports released in 1996)
-Dreamcast ( was the last console by SEGA released in 1998)
-Playstation 2 ( used DVD and CD had dual shock controllers, usb ports and ethernet port released in 1999)
-Xbox (Microsfts console built in memory, dvd, cd and downloadable content. xbox live and 4 controller ports released in 2001)
-Gamecube ( used its only game disc, supported 4 controllers and used memory cards released 2001)
-Xbox 360 ( Built in 20-250 gb of memory, four wireless controllers, HDMI, usb ports, optical sound out, built in wifi and kinect sensor add on released in 2005)
-Playstation 3 (dualshock 3 controller, blue-ray, wireless controllers, 20 - 320 gb HDD released in 2006)
-Nintendo Wii ( built in wifi, uses discs, motion sensing controllers, browser, only 480p output, bluetooth, usb ports and supports gamecube discs released in 2006)
