Television Features

Television

Interactive

The television provider sky which uses satellites to broadcast Television programs across allows for users to play games through an interactive service called play jam, Using the sky TV remote you can choose from a number of games to play which usually cost 50p for a weekend, the remote allows you to use the select button, arrows and colour buttons as gaming buttons where you can move characters, pointers and shoot however because this interactive service uses satellites to download and stream the games this service has very poor loading times, graphics and depending on the weather can crash or loose connection.

Multimedia home platform

MHP is the standard set for any interactive java-based applications being processed and played on a tv set. The Multimedia home platform allows TV sets to broadcast and transfer data consisting of video and sound streaming. MHP applications include emails, games, services and shopping. These features are possible to do straight through your TV set however loading speeds, buffering and download speeds are very high.

Limitations of television

Television surfaces all have there down points, when using satellites download speeds are slow qnd weather can cause signal loss. When using cable it relays on having internet connection through the ground so if there's a power cut to the server or a break in the connection TV services will be down. Interactive features are limited to the hardware of the TV set therefore graphics are low.
